About José
José Manuel Campa chaired the European Banking Authority from 1 May 2019 until he left at the end of January 2026, after announcing his resignation in September 2025; François-Louis Michaud succeeded him in April 2026. His term covered the drafting and first application of MiCA, under which the EBA supervises issuers of significant asset-referenced and e-money tokens (Article 117), and the build-up of the EU's new anti-money-laundering authority. He is listed for the positions the EBA took on crypto-asset regulation during that period.
